Glass Edge Grinding Machine: Process & Functions

1. Key Functions

Edge Smoothing: Removes sharp edges to prevent cuts and stress fractures.

Beveling/Chamfering: Creates 45° (or custom-angle) edges for safety and aesthetics.

Polishing: Achieves mirror-finish edges (Ra ≤0.4μm) for high-end applications.

Deburring: Eliminates micro-cracks from cutting, improving structural integrity.

2. Working Process

1. Loading: Glass placed on conveyor belt (manual/CNC-automated).

2. Rough Grinding:

Abrasive Wheels: 80–120 grit diamond/CBN wheels remove bulk material.

Coolant: Water-based emulsion prevents overheating.

3. Fine Grinding:

200–400 grit wheels refine edge smoothness.

4. Polishing (Optional):

Felt/resin wheels with cerium oxide paste for optical clarity.

5. Cleaning: Ultrasonic rinsing to remove residue.

3. Applications

Architectural Glass: Curtain walls, balustrades.

Automotive: Windshields, side windows.

Solar Panels: Precise edge sealing.
